Biosecurity resources
A space for both stakeholders and the public to learn more about biosecurity worldwide. Here you will find information and tools to help you be more biosecurity aware.
We are still building this section. If you know of a biosecurity resource that you think should be included, please contact us at info@wababiosecurity.com
Biocheck.UGent is a scientific risk-based and independent scoring system to evaluate the quality of your on-farm biosecurity. This tool can help farmers, veterinarians, and farm advisors to gain insights into the current biosecurity levels so that they can take the right measures to optimize prevention, tailored to their situation.

The FAO-PMP-TAB toolkit contains tools and mechanisms to identify and mitigate biosecurity risks and to support implementation of biosecurity improvement, including governance and regulatory mechanisms to monitor, measure and sustain progress. This includes the stocktaking of existing information and procedures in place to prevent and
manage animal diseases and emerging zoonoses.

A platform dedicated to biosecurity for all animal and plant species , created by veterinarians Paulo Raffi and Luiz Eduardo Conte, who together have over 60 years of experience in the sector. Both share the goal of raising awareness about biosecurity and contributing to safer environments in animal and plant production, based on their accumulated practical experience and effective business and communication strategies for the growth of Biosseguridade.com.
Coordinated by Ghent University, BIOSECURE is a four-year research project supported by the European Union with a budget of 5 million euros and 18 participating partners, from 12 European countries.
BIOSECURE website features two dashboards. Biosecurity Application database and Biosecurity Supporting Measures, designed to offer stakeholders and the public a snapshot of biosecurity application databases. Available for species such as Pig, Poultry, Cattle and multiple species.
Biosecurity practices can help prevent the introduction and spread of disease, promoting better animal health and welfare, human health, food safety, and the economic benefits of livestock production. Stemming from a joint initiative between the Biosecure project which brought together 17 partners across 12 European countries, and DISCONTOOLS, the research gap database in animal health, this book provides valuable background information which can help to better understand and prioritize biosecurity measures. Suitable for researchers of animal and veterinary sciences, food safety and production chains, and human health.
Vigil-Vet is a veterinary program for assessing and managing biosecurity on dairy and fish farms. It takes into account the specific needs of each farm, provides a decision-making support through a risk score calculator, offers different risk assessment questionnaires, gives access to a wide range of key material, includes efficient customizable Standard Operating Procedure design tools, generates professional looking reports, and enables easy follow-ups. The program can be used online and offline.
EU-FarmBook is a Horizon Europe project that is working at regional, national, and European (EU) levels to build an online Platform. Gathering and sharing agriculture and forestry knowledge.

The HE-FARM project has the primary objective of developing a methodology to assess biosecurity in farms. Additionally, the project aims to evaluate the efficacy of various mitigation measures and the advancement of novel technologies to enhance biosecurity in farms. The methodology will be established through a combination of laboratory and field tests and will enable the prediction of biosecurity levels within specific transport channels. Prototypes of innovative biosecurity technologies will undergo validation in operational environments, including cattle, pig, sheep, and chicken farms, as well as in a slaughterhouse and animal transport such as trucks.
